The shape of the year
⭐ Antalya is a resort coast, so its calendar is the inverse of a capital's. The pleasant months are **April to early June** and **late September into November** — warm, walkable, and the sea already or still warm.
High summer is genuinely hot, and walking the old town in the middle of a July afternoon is not a pleasure. The shade in those lanes is not decorative.
Winter
Winter is mild and green, and the mountains behind the city often have snow while the coast does not. Some seasonal places close, but the city itself is a working city of a million people and does not shut.
⭐ It is the best time for the ancient cities — no shade at Perge or Aspendos, and no crowds either.
Swimming
The sea is warmest well after the air has peaked. Early autumn beats early summer for swimming, reliably.
What is shut, and when
⭐ The museums here take a weekday off, and they do not all take the same one — worth checking the one you are building a day around before you set out.
Everything outdoors — the old town, the harbor, the parks, the beaches — is open whatever the day, so a closed museum costs an hour of rearranging rather than the day.
